Just for You!
My Lovely GoFundMe Supporters:
Hey! How's it going? You look good, did you do something different with your hair? New skincare routine? Lost/gained weight, depending on whichever is positive for you? Here, have some pictures from the recent eclipse, some of which haven't been posted on social media yet. (Also, three unrelated pics that may or may not be a sneak peak into the next non-violin related blog post...)
ALSO also, you guys are the first to know what I'm gonna name this violin once it's complete. Drumroll, please...🥁
CSVM Violin #1: "Sol"
I was initially going to name all of my school instruments after solfège note names (do, re, mi, and so on...), but I figured I can do better than how a big-box manufacturer would name their instrument line. Keeping that original idea, and thinking about what was happening while making this fiddle, hence, Sol was born. Look at her! (If you're on Firefox and can't see the pictures, try opening this page in a private window. IDK man, I'm working on it.)
It feels so good to be halfway done with my first violin and starting on the second box... so long as I ignore the corners that don't match or the wonky looking ff-holes or the handful of quick-repairs I had to make while constructing it but that's beside the point.
As always, I'm immensely grateful for all 427 of you, whether you were able to give a thousand dollars, a couple hundred dollars, or even just $5. (I know how it is; I try to support other folks GFM's with whatever I have spare at the moment. I could go on and on about the benefits of crowdfunding and community support etc.) This is the last update I'll send out via GoFundMe, but that doesn't mean I still couldn't use some support. If you'd like to continue supporting my education at CSVM, you can do so through Ko-Fi.
There are a couple of benefits to using Ko-Fi over moving the goalpost on the GoFundMe again:
- The ability to support via monthly giving,
- Funds immediately arrive in my PayPal account,
- Should I ever have more than I need, I can easily help other students at CSVM who might have some short-term financial need,
- Ko-Fi links are a lot easier to share on social media for various reasons
At the moment, the Ko-Fi feed will mostly be a means to knowing when I update this blog page, but I will find some ways to make it a bit more enticing. I've also been brainstorming ways to give you all an insight into the violinmaking journey that's more than just pictures. Hopefully Ko-Fi can help in those endeavors too.
If you've read this far, and you're still with me, I hope to see you over on Ko-Fi! I can't wait to show you guys everything I've been working on! ☮︎ ♡ ♫ 𝄂
